Announcements

UPM's PABX system will be migrated to the new one. During the downtime, the PABX phones will not work for incoming and outgoing calls.
Please be advised that requests for third-party add-ons for UP Mail/Google (in the @up.edu.ph domain) now require the endorsement of the UP System Data Privacy Officer (DPO). This is to ensure that said third-party add-ons are appropriate and secure for the University’s Google Workspace.
[UPDATE (15 Nov 2023, 7PM: Network has just bee restored.] This is to inform all UP-Manila and PGH stakeholders that there will be a maintenance downtime for our UP-Manila network today (November 15, 2022) at 5:00 PM Philippines (GMT+8).
From UP System IT: "Please be reminded that software resources of the University, including online services registered under UP (such as the UP Mail, Google Drive, Zoom, Microsoft 365), must only be used for OFFICIAL academic, research and administrative purposes. "

The University will experience lack of Internet connectivity and access to local services such as PABX, when trying to use the UP Manila network. The PGH will also be affected as it is using the ADS authentication service of the UP Manila. The network unavailability will take place on September 23, 2023, from 8AM to 5PM.

The network unavailability is due to the CPDMO's maintenance activity that requires shutting down the electric power in the entire area of Joaquin Gonzales Compound, Padre Faura St.

The IMS highly encourages that UPM stakeholders use Google Meet and Microsoft Teams as alternative online tools to Zoom. Read the full advisory here.

If the passwords you have used for your Google account and other online accounts have not been changed for over a year, change them now! We highly recommend these sites to help you create secure passwords: https://www.lastpass.com/features/password-generator-a#generatorTool, https://1password.com/password-generator, and https://nordpass.com/password-generator.
The issue of non-availability of UPM websites from outside the University was due to non-renewal of the domain name upm.edu.ph.
The automatic logout within 24 hours is a new security feature of Google for GMail. In response to the users' reports, the IT Team increased the limit from 24 hours to 7 days. Note that there are no other options to make the limit less than 7 days.
We encountered an issue with logging in to the ADS via the URL http:/u.pm/ads. This happened around 8AM. At this point, we are still investigating what triggered the issue. The workaround we did was to restart the server that hosts the http://u.pm/ads and https://login.ads.upm.edu.ph.
Slido is available to all UP faculty members. Slido is an easy-to-use Q&A and polling platform for live or remote meetings, events, classes, and webinars.
The firewall appliance that powers the Internet connectivity of the University is still in the process of updating. As of now, the ADS login process is affected. Read More

UPDATE 12:45pm - Internet connectivity in all Pedro Gil segments has just been restored.

The line in the NIH area (covering most of Pedro Gil segments) has been down since yesterday late afternoon. The NetOps Team is currently in the area to troubleshoot the problem.

You might receive or might have received an email with the subject "the binary numbers of me using 1 and 2". It's a spam and phishing email. Don't trust the message as it contains click baits. More
