Mandate

Established on 31 July 1998 by a Resolution of the UP Board of Regents, the Information Management Service (IMS) serves as the information technology support arm of the University. The IMS has four major functions (with corresponding function code), namely:  

  1. Information systems development, innovations, and maintenance. This covers: a) development of information systems using innovative technologies, b) websites and information system hosting, and c) technical support to users of information systems handled by the IMS. (F1
  2. Connectivity operations and maintenance. This function supports the following: a) ADS accounts provisioning, b) network operations, c) servers’ maintenance, and d) Teleconferencing support, and e) cybersecurity operations (F2
  3. Technical support for ICT acquisition, deployment, maintenance, and disposal. This covers: a) evaluation of PRs, technical specs, TORs, b) inspection, c) support for disposal of equipment, d) software and hardware deployment, e) computer and peripherals troubleshooting, and f) computers preventive maintenance. (F3) 
  4. Compliance with standards, awareness raising, and administrative support. This covers: a) Intra-office assistance and monitoring for QMS, b) compliance with ISO audit requirements, c) organizing training events on ICT (in coordination with the HRDO), d) promotion of IMS as the University’s ICT arm, e) administrative support, f) records management, and g) handling computer examination for UPM job applicants. Vision and Mission

Vision: The Information Management Service (IMS) envisions itself to be a strategic arm of UP Manila in providing ICT services and fostering digital innovation for the enhancement of teaching, learning, research, and public service.

Mission: The IMS serves as the information and communications technology arm of the University. It helps the University keep pace with the digital age through innovation and making use of appropriate technology attuned to its funding capacity in alignment to the strategic goals of UP Manila. Moreover, the IMS leads the digital transformation of the University in alignment to the efforts of the national government and UP System to enhance the experience of its constituents.
